Model Boating Pond

Model Boating Pond (The Boater)

A large, rectangular pond with fishing banks on three sides - the west bank is out of bounds /a nature reserve. Good access with Millfield Lane N6, close by. Depths of 4m towards the south /dam end, whilst the middle and north end are up to 2m deep but often nearer to 1m.

Carp to 30lb plus, pike to high teens, tench to double figures, loads of roach, rudd and plenty of perch. Determine the depth of the swim, put out a bed of feed (hemp, ground bait or particles) and regularly top this up, to attract a good number of competing fish.  American, red-signal crayfish can be a problem with bottom-fished baits.

NB: these invasive creatures, which are present in all of the ponds, MUST NOT be returned to the water.
