Hampstead and Highgate Angling Society

Dedicated to the future of fishing on Hampstead Heath

Welcome

Welcome to the Hampstead and Highgate Angling Society (HAHAS) website. Our mission is to preserve, protect and promote fishing on the ponds of Hampstead Heath. Established in 2018, HAHAS represents angling interests on the Heath Sports Forum, championing safe, sustainable fishing and campaigning for better recognition of angling concerns.

Whether you are a novice or an expert, there will be something for you to learn or share with like-minded enthusiasts. We hold regular fishing tuition sessions for local schoolchildren to develop their skills and instil good habits to those who may wish to take a deeper interest in the sport.

Our regular meetings at the Bull pub in Highgate are open to all.

Why you should join HAHAS

Preserving  a tradition

Anglers have been fishing the Hampstead ponds for almost 300 years. But the available waters are becoming increasingly reduced as more ponds are closed and more restrictions are put in place. By joining HAHAS you can make your voice heard and help preserve this valuable resource.

Love the Heath

HAHAS recognises that very many people love Hampstead Heath. As anglers, HAHAS is committed to preserving this fragile environment and working in harmony with all other interest groups.

The next generation

Are you thinking of taking your children fishing? Fishing is a great way for families to bond together and it also teaches youngsters of today there is more to life than ipads, iphones and Xboxes. Fishing also gets children outside in the fresh air and lets them experience the wonders of wildlife and nature as well as the art of patience.
